    Description

Rocky Point Recreation Area is located on the 8,000-acre Belle Fourche Reservoir. The reservoir was created in 1911, when Orman Dam was constructed to store water for agricultural use. At the time of its completion, Orman Dam was the largest earthen dam in the world. In 1989, Orman Dam was designated a National Historic Civil Engineering Landmark.

Glide along the water in a kayak or canoe, fish and take a boat out on the water when you camp overnight. Rocky Point Recreation Area offers sites with or without electricity and cozy one-bedroom cabins in scenic locations. Book your reservation quickly and easily using the online system. Cabins are built for four people and furnished with a double bed, set of bunk beds, heating, air conditioning and electricity. Cooking is not permitted inside, but an outdoor fire grate and picnic table are provided.

Fishing is a popular activity at Rocky Point Recreation Area, and a boat ramp, fish-cleaning station and fishing pole checkout are provided. Species found in the reservoir are walleye, yellow perch, channel catfish, black crappie, smallmouth bass, white bass and tigermuskie. A canoe or kayak can be rented and games borrowed for use at the park. If you're in the mood for a good hike, visit the George S. Mickelson Trail, in the heart of the beautiful Black Hills. Its gentle slopes and easy access allow people of all ages and abilities to enjoy the beauty of the area.

    Nice & clean

Nice quiet campground that was clean and provided lots of room for our camper, boat and vehicle. We will definitely reserve a spot there again! I loved that it was well patrolled. Great paved access of the paved highway right to the spot we reserved!!

The camp host was not around most of the time and he and his partner had a screaming loud fight Saturday night about 10pm... I was ready to call law enforcement as the screaming became louder and louder.. \this went on for almost an hour..and was worried it may become physical...very unprofessional and unnecessary in this surrounding ...

    First Visit

Large lots, quiet, clean and spacious. Very impressed by this campground. Campfire would have been awesome with the cool nights but understand the temp ban.

    Curious

Not really sure what the purpose of having camp hosts at this campground accomplishes. This last trip is the most we have ever seen them, but all they did was drive through-never once stopped. Our conversations and interactions were with park staff members, who were always pleasant.
